Welcome to piano lessons with Michelle!
I’m so excited to get to know you and your students. Here’s a little business info:
Tuition is $125 per month. Keep in mind that it’s an average, and I keep track of lessons to make sure that I’m fair. We actually average 3.3 lessons per month over the school year. I include a few extra lessons for sickness, etc. If I have to miss more lessons than I’ve factored in, I will credit you. Payments are due by the first lesson of the month. I take Venmo, cash, checks, credit cards, and can even set-up auto-payments. Late payments will incur a $10 late fee. Because I reserve my time for your lesson, I don’t credit cancellations or no-shows. However, if you/your student needs to miss a lesson, please let me know as soon as possible. If I’m able to reschedule, I am happy to do so.
Be sure to check the Calendar tab for the most up-to-date lesson schedule.
I will teach through June and July, but we will all take August off. I generally reduce tuition slightly for the summer months to account for vacations. The kids do so well when they keep up their lessons through most of the summer, even if they miss some for vacations. Also, students who continue through the summer will have priority for scheduling in the fall.
Please don’t send your kids sick. If they have a mild cough or the sniffles, I’m okay with them wearing a mask.
Practicing - I really like my students to practice at least 5 days a week, and I recommend 25 minutes per day (except for the first few weeks or for young students). It’s just not good for them to come to lessons feeling unprepared. (Of course I understand vacations).
Rewards - I love to reward my students with praise and incentives. They will earn prizes by daily practicing, daily flashcards, theory pages, doing games I send home, being on time, completing books, and performing special for extended family. They love this part and take it very seriously. If your child has a food allergy, please let me know. I try to have non-food items as well, but the kids really like to choose treats.
Recitals - I would like to have a recital by the end of this school year. I will let you know the details when I get something scheduled. I generally have a Christmas recital and a Spring recital.
You are always welcome to reach out to me with questions or concerns. As far as parents coming to lessons, the kids usually do better without their parents there. However, I will never tell you no. Parents should always feel welcome where their children are, especially during those first lessons when we’re getting to know each other.
Thank you for trusting me with your child’s piano lessons. I look forward to our time together! ---Michelle
